I’m not sure why, but November always makes me think of Peter Drucker. To me, Mr. Drucker was one of the greatest intellectual minds when it came to the subject of leadership, management and organizational behaviour. He was born on November 19, 1909 and passed away November 11, 2005. You can read more about him here
One of my favourite quotes from Peter Drucker is “Management is doing things right. Leadership is doing the right things.” This is statement is particularly relevant to those of us who work in healthcare and healthcareIT. There are so many issues (maybe call them opportunities?) that it can be difficult to determine where to focus.
This week’s #hcldr tweetchat topic is going to be on the topic of alignment.
T1: There are lots of problems in healthcare. How can we as “leaders” in healthcare choose the right thing to work on?
T2: How can we rally people behind those identified goals? What tactics have you seen work?
T3: What needs to happen in order for the change/momentum to last?
There is an excellent article from Inc magazine about getting people behind an idea/strategy. It has some very practical and useful tips. Another article that is relevant for tonight’s chat is from Longwoods – on the topic of sustaining change in a clinical setting.
Definitely a “meaty” topic for tonight’s #hcldr chat. See you at 8:30pm Eastern!
